Make a Positive Impact Using the Enneagram

There’s two kinds of impact: intentional and unintentional. Rest assured, you are making an impact whether you know it or not. If you want to shape it, you have to be present. There are more and more distractions to divert your attention and it takes discipline to say no and keep on track.

I wrote in my last blog, on conscious leadership and the Enneagram,  ‘To be conscious is to be awake and present in each moment with self-awareness of the impact your thoughts, feelings and actions are having on the situation and those around you.

The way to be awake and present in the moment is through the body. Types 8, 9, and 1 are body centered types. Learn from them how to access presence from the body. When present:

  • Type 8 is open-hearted, acting with immediacy
  • Type 9 is grounded, energized being in the flow
  • Type 1 is dignified with serene acceptance

Watch this one minute video that will bring your attention to the sensations in your body and restore presence:

Each Enneagram type has unique gifts that shine in the light of presence. Grounding in the body, the mind quiets and the heart opens. When mind, body and heart are online, you are awake and present so can choose your words and actions intentionally to create the impact you desire.

Using principles of conscious leadership and the Enneagram system of personality is how I help people navigate challenging life transitions and grow as individuals and leaders.
